Well one of the groups that we got our bug started with was this group of blue bars.

We ordered 7 1" fish and ended up with what i do believe is 4 males and 3 females. The fish that came in are 2.5-3" and males are colored up already, did i mention we got these guys in 3 weeks ago?

Last night we stripped the female that was holding since a few days after we got the fish. These were not the 1" fish we thought we were getting but sexually mature adults!

The stripping was a bit ruff and my first time stripping in over 15 years but eventho we were both nervous the fish and myself made it out alive.

I do think she still has more in her mouth since she is not eating as of yet. We got 13 outta her.

Here is a video of the kids in the tumbler after the whole shebang was done last night

Fry Video

Now if we can just get these black and orange to spawn

Congrats on the spawn. One of these days I'm going to get some blue bars.

nice vid. i also like the tumbler.

I like to let the females hold full term their first few spawns. it gives them more instinct to protect the fry. they also suck the first few times they spawn so i dont like to stress them out to much either.

good luck.

Tomorrow will be the day of full free swimming

Currently there are 6 hovering with a bit of egg left and 7 trying to swim with them but still a bit too belly heavy to achieve liftoff!

The same female was holding for the last 7 or 8 days but this evening she was the target of every male in the tank so i stripped her out for her safety
