Is there a chance a group of people will be doing a second shipment from Germany? If so, I would like to be apart of it. I would like to bring in more P. Red Flanks, and a second species. Perhaps others would like to bring in some more of others we brought in. Just a feeler thread to see how likely this is.

This is not as easy to do as you think. It would be a lot easier if you were a importer. I think there was a small shipment done on the east coast early this year with a importer. I'm not going to try to do it again anytime soon. My wife will kill me if I did.

if enough people want to get it going, it could happen again. maybe early 2013.

I would be in just for some more Xanthopteryx, and a fresh group of P.P. Senga Points.

I'd consider going in on it, especially if we are talking early 2013(Feb. - April), I have to ask this, what kind of money are talking about here, I know it depends on alot of factors so just a guesstimate would be good.....

I didn't pay close enough attention to the first shipment to see what the eventual cost was, but if it wasn't too sky-high, I'd be in for one or two species.

Jim would be the one to say what the end costs were. I can tell you it was significantly cheaper than trying to buy them on Aquabid.

Yeah, the cost wasn't that bad.

I think i got 2 groups of fry for like $50.
then 4 subadults chilotes for another $50.

then we spread out shipping, i don't think i paid more than $135 for like 30 fish.

But its not the cost thats a real factor.

The europeans have to do alot of work organizing, and crossing country borders.
last time was bad because there was that volcano that grounded planes at the time our shipment was due.

Then Allen and Jim had to do a ton of work, getting permits ready, organizing with the inspector, driving 4 hours to pick the fish up in the middle of the night, then driving back to their places, organizing all the fish in tanks, dealing with DOA's, then they had to deal with shipping out to all the people.
not to mention getting money from people, so they did a ton of work.
same amount of work that a dealer would do, but without the profit mark up.

my guess is maybe a little smaller shipment, maybe fewer people.
also depends on what the European breeders want to do.

Well, I'm not set up like Jim and Allen, but if the will is there in Europe I'll do anything I can to help.

Unfortunately i missed out on the first shipment but i would love to be in on the second shipment, so how does it work? Do we get a list of possible species we would like to bring in or is it the luck of the draw?

Who ever decides to do this needs to find out if the Germans are willing to do this again.
