[/quote]From teknikal: Again I apologize for the rant. After the recent posts across the internet, including this site by someone seeking to hurt, IMO, some of the hobbies more responsable curators, I unfortunately get a bit pissy.

I totally agree and know exactly what you are referring too which is why I don't always frequent this site. Now I realize that isn't right as most everyone here is great but I get sick of hearing the same thing over and over again from certain people.

On a different note...This is really exciting. I hope all works out with this and you guys can truly make a difference in spreading some of these species across the united states.

I will say that both sides have merit with their opinions.

TechnikAl you should introduce yourself and your credentials to all that don't know you. You appear to be knowledgeable about the academic aspect of fish keeping. Maybe we can all understand you better if we know your background.

In other words dood whatcha keepin'?

Dre - I'm sure over the years the keepers in question have good reasons for their methods from their past experiences.

My apologies for getting off topic.

Big Jim

BTW is it too late to get in on this order?

One thing which I am sure you all were planning on doing is…Please make sure to register your fish in some sort of CARES program and keep good journals on them. I feel this is very important to do with these Vics as someday all we may have left of them is the journals people have kept.

I have been in contact with Claudia Dickinson from CARES (www.CARESPreservtion.com). We are looking forward to implementing the CARES Program on the forum, which will be known as Cichlids of Victoria CARES. We will be working with Claudia and the CARES Team on this.

South West airlines cargo is quite reasonable as far as air shipping of fish goes. I think it runs around $100-$150 to become a known shipper with them.

We do not have South West airlines here in Fresno. All we can go with is Delta ans American.

yeah, people are going to have to factor that in.
Big Jim and Allen are going to be doing alot of the legwork in driving to SFO, sorting and storing the fish, then shipping out to you guys, so just think about that.
hopefully i can meet at SFO, i'm picking up fish for myself and someone else, but if not, i only live a couple hours from them, and work about a hour away.
I may be able to bring some fish to people in LA area as thats where i'm dropping off some fish, but really hard for me to store more than one person's fish.

I wouldn't expect you to Big Jim, I just meant I am surprised SW doesn't serve LA, seems like such a huge chunk of business for them. Perhaps there is a franchise (ehem monopoly) deal with the other airlines and LAX.

Ok, I am dumb, you said you are in Fresno, and I remember now Allen lives pretty far north of LA too. Sorry.
