I don't know that someone is trying to make money, its more like with our shipment everyone got an incredible deal.
Our shipment people only paid the fee to the europeans, and what the cost of the shipping/airport fees are.
The 8 hour drive and man hours, and storage in Allen and Jims tank were not charged.
We could have charged more fees, so our shipment could have been higher.

Still I think double the price is pretty much in line, and would be what others would charge.

There really is no way we could have stopped anyone from selling any part of their shipment.

I had certain controls that i would have implemented to limit the amount of for profit resales, but even if we used my ideas still there would be the possibility.

As it is, if someone decides they don't want to raise up 4 different Vic types, and only want 1, there is no way to prevent them from unloading the other 3 groups for a profit.

So i'd not be surprised if groups have already been sold off to another person this week, or maybe someone ordered for other people.

I'd also not be surprised if someone decided they do not really care for a species and they show up on aquabid in a couple months.
Ive been asked for 2 of my 3 species from a well known cichlid author.

So we can SHARE or we can SELL for profit, but there is no way to control.
We are not in a position to police these fish.
Maybe next time we will try to institute more controls who knows.

I completely understand what you are saying TR6,

We can't control it, but I would hope most would see the benefit of first offering their fish for sale to one of the already involved forum members. To me it is a clear choice, by staying involved with the trade and updates on this forum we are building a a record of the fish from this order. Records are good. They show that the fish are really the fish 8)

In a perfect world.... well.. it would be perfect.

Try not to worry about that which you have no control over.

The commitment of this forum is unlike any other. I would patiently wait in line for fry from people who actually care about spreading these species around than buying fish from someone trying to make a profit.

I just hope that most if not all of them stick around long enough to be spread about to dedicated vic keepers! It would be a shame for some of them to just go poof

Just as the case was for me.....

The order was pre-order and was told i needed the $$ in advance to aide in covering ship costs and/ inspections...etc.

Just didnt know if it was out of line or anything and im not accusing so, i just have never been a part of this type of shipment so i guess i still have the "blinders" on to this type of situation. 8)

I am not following your statement, the order here at COV was discussed for about 3 months before it actually was shipped from Germany.

it should be expected that when a special event { shipment from over seas} happens from private individuals not a huge importer that the cost would be paid up front.
it was worth evey penny.
