OK....I admit it...I'm a picture and video nut. It took me about 40 minutes and two cameras to get the footage I wanted here ...and now I've condensed that to less than 5 minutes (sorry...couldn't cut out more...so fast forward all you want). I was hoping that perfect spawning moment but it never happened. My dominant male looks pretty good though doing his preparation job and inviting.

Feel free to bat me over the head and say "enough"...but I really do enjoy sharing my fish. Hope you enjoy them too :D

Happy I think...yes...have a few holding females now...swaaaaeeet!!! But I'm terrible at removing females and getting fry...will leave them to the tank and hope for the best...a few to enjoy in the winter months...and I hope to get this tank into the house after the tree comes down (oh and please forgive, cleaning day is tomorrow so tank is a little dirty)

Lucipinnis ... they are dwarfs ... and thank you witamygreatdanes ... I just rearranged the tank today... giving them three piles of rocks and they are using quite a bit more of the tank.

These guys are great to watch ... the males are soooo busy and beautiful too

I used to have the same Synos in with my chromos, and they never interfered with breeding. But I never tried leaving fry to be spit in the tank, because I understand they are quite efficient at cleaning them up.

Hmmm... well, I can try pulling the female(s) but I've had no luck with that as both times I've tried before the females have been holding and in the fry tank...then one evening I go to bed and the next morning...no more holding females and the babies are no where to be found...so it seems like a lot of work for little return to catch the females and move them when I still don't get babies. I will not be one to strip fry so not sure how to proceed at this point. Would putting the female in one of those box things work...I hate confining her like that...it seems rather cruel and unusual punishment for carrying babies...just my thinking :)

Any other suggestions?

and I'm certain I have 3 holding right now...so how do I deal with that...I only have one fry tank even if I pulled them...I guess they would not spit at the same time but not sure how that would work?

I've always stripped, so I don't know what else to suggest. Even if you're not comfortable stripping, she MAY spit once you net her, if you wait until just the right day. Then you could put her in a box/breeder trap for just a few days max until she's done. I think she's more likely to dump them if the box is in a fry tank, rather than the main tank where she may feel the threat of other adults (just a guess though). BTW, I usually strip on day 14 and get fully formed swimmers, with just a bit of belly bump left.

So how do I know when I am 14 days out? 14 days from the time she stopped eating? I'm sorry, I have no clue with this  Will pull her and put her in the fry tank and see what happens...just not one to strip fry so nature will have to take its course
