My buddy brought a breeding group of the P. chilotes Zue Is. to the North East Council convention recently (a confederation of fish clubs like FOTOS in Texas). This auction was highlighting CARES and I thought that someone who "cares" and really wants them would pick them up. It was a male heavy group with holding females.

They were put on the prereg list weeks ahead. When brought up... the auctioneer made no reference to the fact that they were CARES fish.... :?:

A fellow picked them up for the $10 opening bid!

Seems the bidder knew exactly what they were, has a male less group from years ago and has been in contact trying to get them from me....

Wish I knew who he was and what forum I know him from....

Glad you finally have a great group of year plus old fish!

al, i'm the guy that got the P. chilotes. had six females from ross smith. really did need the males. was shocked i got them for the opening bid. was prepared to go a lot higher. bought the P. chromogynous (also yours). have a reverse trio and wanted to add to them. mnjason is right. a lot of auctioneers usually butcher the names. i was the guy in back with his hand up smiling. glad i made the trip. talked to your friend at the auction. he told me both species were yours so i knew i was getting quality. thanks for sending them.

So that's what happened to the other half of the fish I sent Ross... Glad you have a nice sized group. Didn't know Mike brought P. chromogynos as well, but I'm glad he did.
I actually have both species in the same tank right now and they don't bother each other. I'll occasionally see the chromogynos male but-in to a breeding pair of chilotes, but the female swims away uninterested until it finds it's correct male.... These fish are easy to tell apart....
Good job! If you get some pictures, post them.
