Well I stripped three Mbipia lutea yesterday.

I have so many that I gave away 7 juveniles for some BAP points at the last club auction. And I see that they are up for sale a mere 4 weeks later.

The local Columbus, Ohio club has a BAP (breeder award program). But I distribute my fish to more serious hobbyists first, before I even consider the local BAP program. However, I have lots of M. lutea fry growing out and I'm running out of grow out tank space. I don't really care about BAP points, and the breeder get $0 but the cash helps the local club. So I donated a bag of seven 1.25" Mbipia lutea "Makobe" to the club to sell at the auction last month. They sold for something like $5. It's a shame that the guy bought them just to turn around and make a few bucks on AquaBid.

I'm not really upset, just a little disappointed. At least they are getting distributed. That's a whole lot better than some rookie buying rare fish and killing them. And now you know why I don't care about BAP.

i quit all the local club stuff once it got to political for me.

To stressful and it took the focus off of fish which was the reason we got together in the first place!

Ditto. I now spend the time I was pretty much wasting on club activities on my fish.

im the president of a local club this year. let me tell you, you dont know how many people hate you until you are in charge. i thought i was on good terms with everyone until just before i took office. then all the BS came out and its been a headache every since. i almost quite 3 times but did not because i dont quite something i started. i also run the annual auction and now am the program director.

i think the ones who dont like me is due to the fact that i am their grand kids age, and they hate all my new ideas and changing their good ole boys club. HA i dont get it.....

i dont really bring fish anymore either, never sell. i just end up bringing them home.

I'm not sure how my post turned into club bashing. The Columbus club is pretty small (approximately 35 people attend each meeting) so it isn't as active as some other clubs are. But I like it just fine and everyone seems to get along very well. It's a general interest fish club so maybe only half the people in the club even keep cichlids. Steve (AlphaWild) is the only club member that actively looks for Victorians. At the club auctions, I think the club members are far outnumbered by non-members and out of towners. The person who bought my fish was not a club member.

this sucks, i had some neochromis put up on ebay a mere 24 hours after collection. I guess after 4 months you can form an opinion on disliking something but then seeing what they are fetching ............

people on aquabid are to picky too. i feel like you have to hold there hands sometimes. if not they leave bad feedback and then you suck again....

i would only put my fish on there if i was over run, currently getting there but not yet. :D
