can Astatotilapia latifasciata be kept with Astatotilapia calliptera? The females don't look the same so I am leaning towards it being OK buy wanted to ask to be sure

If they have enough females for the male(s) I doubt they will hybridize. The genus Astatotilapia will likely get revised and I bet these two don't end up in the same genus.

Are these CARES species that you are breeding specifically for CARES? If so, I would separate them. Just a recommendation I was given. :)
