I have seen some fakes out there already. A guy in Utah say's he has some but they are not them.

Live Fish Direct in Utah is selling Haplochromis sp "Red Tail Shellers" as blue rock kribs. I sent them an email but they really don't care.

and that is why I have not placed an order with Live fish Direct to date. This is not the first time I have heard of issues with their accuracy.

I have heard of lots of mislabeling and messed up orders from people who have dealt with them. That's why I avoid big places like that. People who breed as a hobby tend to know what they have and get it right.

I do have to say that their hatchery location is to die for. Who wouldn't want free heated water year round.

I am guessing they are tapped into to springs or thermal vents?

As for the rock kribs at my local fish auction I bought a group of 6 fish that were labeled uganda rock kribs. This was about year ago by the way. I was not sure if they were what I wanted so i asked for an ID on another site and people seemed to think they were not uganda rock kribs so I got rid of them. I wish I gave them a chance because maybe they were but Im not sure. Im prety sure they it was Kevin about a year ago who told me he didnt think they were uganda rock kribs though so.... Here is a link to the post i made last year.

http://www.cichlid-forum.com/phpBB/view ... 6b8bc7ebf4

and here is the image of the fish I won in the auction.

If you click on the image you can enlarge it. You can slightly see the red on the tail but Im not sure. Since I got them at a local auction it might be worth it form me to post on my other forum to see if I can find the guy who sold them.

It might even be worth it for me to see if my club president has a record of the auctions so I can hunt down the guy even. I know we record the person selling each item and how much it went for at each auction I just dont know how far back our records go.

I have to agree with Kevin I don't think they were rock kribs.

They look like they could be the ones from Utah.

I agreed with him too thats why i got rid of them...I dont think they were from utah it was a local club auction in maryland i just think that someone either mislabeled them on accident or on purpose to sell the fish. It amazes me to this day what people will do to sell fish.

It happens in club action more than people will admit.

I think a couple of people here on the forum would be very happy if you could get some. I have been hunting for these for over 2 years now.
