Is it OK to mix rufocaudalis with greenwoodi? Their body structure makes it seem OK, but now that I have them in the tank together, the colors of the females seem to be similar.

Some of the more advance Vic keepers can advise you better on mixing these two species. I'm very careful with my vic's and have only one mixed tank. The mixed tank I have is to deal with aggression. I have yellow labs in one tank with pn sengas.

Even though they look quite a bit different, they are both Neochromis. So to be safe, I wouldn't mix them in my tanks.

Because I lacked the space for the time being, I put the rufo and greenwoodi in the same tank last week thinking that I could always split them when I needed to. I've had a dry spell in terms of my greenwoodi reproducing but just yesterday, I saw that the female and male greenwoodi was doing their mating dance and this morning, I saw that she was holding. I hope that this is a good sign because I have about 15 rufo and only 4 Female/1 Male Greenwoodi. I have a previous batch of greenwoodi fry about 20+ and I can use them to hopefully identify any cross breeding that occurs, but from the looks of things, the greenwoodi are able to identify their own species.
