Well some of you may know fern here on the forum. a sad turn of events happened and she had to sell off most of her stock. she did not leave the hobby but had to "upgrade" to salt water.

She contacted me to see if i wanted the vics she had purchased through 'ME' from the european shipment, of course i want those!!!!!

i am happy to announce 4 mbipia lutea makobe (3m/1f) and 7 matumbi hunters (4m/3f??). I now have to rearrange my room and GET MORE TANKS!!!! LOL

They are full grown so they got priority over the growout fish. I must say that i am very happy with these guys. Once they settle in i will take some pics, if i ever post them is another story

i will probably need to get a few more lutea at some point to even out the ratio but for now i will see if i can work some magic with a pair or reverse trio.

well it turned out to be a slow day at work, our meeting lasted only 45min instead of 4 hours. :D

so i have some time to work on my room re-do. I dont think i will need any more tanks, due to lack of space, but i made a list of my setup by species. it is funny to me since s10jimmy is asking about mixing, and i kind of am too.

after my new acquisitions i realized that i have less tanks than i do species. and there is only one species right now that i can even think about parting with. so this is what i got so far, a list according to the tanks i have:

125g- neo. omni. makobe - mbipi lutea makobe
75g- neo. rufo - p. chromogynos
75g- pun. macro - ast. alluaudi
55g- pun. sp. red flank
55g- pun. senga point
55g- kenya gold - ruby green
55g- matumbi hunter
20g- multicolor vicotriae

i know i am going against religion by crossing but i think these will work out pretty well. i dont think i can get more tanks until i buy a house(wife's orders). so i think i am just going to rebuild a couple of stands to move around a few things. a new rack for 6 40g br, and a new rack/stand for a 125g so i can store bins underneath.

i just need to find the time and energy for this project. its been bugging me every time i stare at the shoddy racks i built, my first time.

anyway let me know what you might think about the species mix up.

Glad you like them so much! Ya I had to make sure they went to a good vic keeper :D
I kept the hunters and luteas and a bunch of C mooriis in a 125g together, never saw any predatory action from the hunters. The hunters are spawning, never saw anything from the luteas....
You better post pics! I need to see my guys once in a while

C mooriis seem to make good bouncers for the more aggressive vics, a fight breaks out and a moorii comes by and breaks it up pretty quick!

Glad to see those Vics went to you Dre. The Matumbi are very special. A bit slow spawn wise for me and my bro, but fairly consistent. We need to try and get their numbers up in the states. Lutea are breeding machines.

Congrats on your new fish. Lutea are breeding machines, but are aggressive as ********.

The hunters were dominant in that mixed tank... the main male lutea could never manage to claim top dog position.
The mooriis were just kind of... there.... never stepped in unless there was lip locking or biting involved, then they broke it up.

well the luteas are in a 40g br now until i move fish around. they are still adjusting so nothing major going on yet. i figured they could hold their own against the omni's which can be terrors as well. right now i have 3m omni in a 75g tank with about 9 females and they look pretty good. they chase a lot but they dont seem to be beating each other up much. but the largest male is about 4.5-5" so they are going to need more room.

So did you actually see the Matumbi and Lutea get into it Fern?

Oh yes! Lots of flaring and standoffs, anything more and one of the big male mooriis would just swim right into it and shoo them off.

Cool, I never really saw my Matumbi Hunters get into it with anyone except short battles between males. I had mysterious rusty deaths though, so always suspected some Matumbis getting annoyed and flexing their muscle. Victorian Dinosaurs I tell ya !

They are super neat that's for sure! I expect lots of pics of them dre!
The luteas are mild compared to the hunters.
