Received my copy several weeks ago, a very good read and plenty of scope for at least 2 more volumes on vics. Look forward to the next.
I like the fact that some personal references were included on what species have been kept together by the authors.

Hope to attend a talk by Dr. Anton Lamboj in May on his recent collecting trip to Gabon.

Paul

Very awesome book! I like the fact that there are multiple pictures for most species!

Thank you for the kind words folks. It means a lot that you, the advanced haplochromine keepers give our book a good review. You give us all the more incentive to finish up the next one!

Thanks to Axel and Kevin and others, progress is going great.

Like Mullet had mentioned, the FOTAS CARES show this fall is going to be something special. We expect to have the largest collection of haplochromines (and other lesser fish  ) ever assembled and available in the US. You have plenty of time to plan. It would be great to see everyone there!

You're welcome Fern. I hope you enjoy it.

It'll be great to see you at FOTAS Richard! I haven't heard from anyone at COAST yet but it would be great to return to California.

I am loving it!!! Very well written with lots of good stats and good personal observations! I also really like the fact that there are multiple pics for most species, makes IDing much easier!
Again, thank you very very much!!!!!!!!

Page 116 and 117, I think the author has mistakenly swapped pictures for crimson tide and red flank. It should be the other one. Red flank is red, it is obvious.

Also on page 118, I can see a Aeneocolor in the picture not a Red Head Zue Island. Zue islanders have a green back-half not yellow.

More observations to come.

On page 116 the fish labeled P. "crimson tide" doesn't look like the crimson tide I kept. It does indeed bare some resemblence to a "red flank"
On page 117 the fish labeled P. "red flank" could indeed be a "red flank" that is sub-dominant or just showing dark colors. That does happen with vics some times.
On page 118 there is no way this is an aeneocolor. I've never kept the P. "red head" but it looks to be a young immature male. It might just need some time to attain its adult coloration.

In any case, none of these three pictures are great representations of the species listed. But then two of the species were not readily available in the US when the book was published. They are much more common in the US after some imports from Europe arrived.

Kevin
