I bought these as Hap. Sp All red. I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me some clue on what location these may be, and if they are pure.

Thanks

Haplochromis sp "all red" from Lakes nawampassa and Kyoga is what most people are choosing to call Haplochromis (Xystichromis?) sp. "Kyoga flameback" these days. Yours looks like the real deal to me.

So you think this is the All Red from Lake Edward? That was what I was thinking.

Ok.
I am just curious about one thing. I read in that article that the kyogas have green on them where as the lake edward don't. I have a colony of kyogas that has that green, but this male doesn't. Is it probably a difference in collection point within the lake?

As per mentioned above, your photo is of a Haplochromis sp. "Kyoga flameback" .

If you have something with a bit of green in it, it could be a hybrid colony, could be something like a Ruby Green. They are relatively close in color patterns and look but do show a big of green.

Photos always help to properly identify :) If you get a chance and are still wondering what you have, post a photo !
