My guess would be Haplochromis Nubilus or lithochromis rubripinnis

I purchased some fish that were called pseudonigrican blue or lithochromis rubripinnis so its hard to say which is which. My fish looks almost like yours maybe a little longer.

More research needs to be done on this fish before we can say for sure exactly what it is.

I saw your list and I will assume it is the mbipia mbipi you have listed.

that is correct, the mbibia are a rock dwelling species, they came into the states in 2007 in a limited shippment that came in via old world they are more beautiful than i can show in a picture. they are some what robust, and the females are aggressive twards eachother. my group consist of 2, 4 inch males and and 11 females. please keep us informed about your species it would be really cool if they are the lithochromis. could you get a few more picture of him maybe one with his fins extended? maybe i can help get this guy id.

My fish came in wild through a cichlid dealer here in california and he was able to show me an invoice that listed them this way. After searching the internet It seems I am the only onle to have them.

The picture is the wild male and wild female.

the same is for my macrocephala i have the only breeding group in the nation actualy the only ones in the nation they have spawnd many times and im growing out a bunch of babies about 350. and then will distribute them to responcible breeders. i wrote an article for the feb edition of the buntbarsch edition for the aca and it was on the macrocephala, i would love to see some more pictures of both your male and female. maybe with the fins deployed. this will help with obtaining proper identification. as far as them being wild caught i havent herd anything about any thing comming in to the us from the transhippers i know, but anything can happen i do know that some sp 44 came in a little way back, but its not clear if they were farmed over there or actualy lake victoria fish. the same as the "blue" crimnson tides that have been poping up. it would be interesting if we could get a collection point on your fish.

I think Peter from Atlantis imported some Wild Caught Victorians last year.

Do you ship fish?

Yea, I believe that Ross is now aware that the Mbipi mbipia in the US are really N. greenwoodi. After finishing the C-F profiles, word got out pretty quickly. Allen has some Lithochromis rubripinnis and they look correct to me. I think Allen sent some to deadman so he now has them as well.
