This is my first post on this forum so I would like to thank Allen and all others involved in this forum for having me on! I have just recently purchased a group of these Vic Haps and can find limited information on them! This is where I have been told to get any further info on Vics and that information from members here is reliable! Attached is the pic and they were sold to me as Hap Sp. Blue Fire Fin but I have found conflicting information on the so me saying they are in the Xystichromis genus and the Platytaeniodus genus! Under the Playtaeniodus genus they were referred to as a Red Tail Sheller but others were calling it a Blue Red Fin Hap! Any help will be appreciated I would love to know if this is a hybrid or one found in the wild? Thanks!!! sorry I can't figure out how to post pic but any info on this species will help!

i believe that the hap blue fire fin belongs to the xystichromis genus but this has not been determined as of yet. to my novice understanding they have yet to be officially described.
from what i have read that the yellow anal fin is fixed to this species and the hap blue back.

Hi
First of all, H;sp"red tail sheller"doesn't belong to the Platytaeniodus genus, I've made some teeth observations and jaw measurments, this fish clearly belongs to the sub genus Ptyochromis ( it has procumbent teeth in 4 rows with gap between the second and third row)as it lacks the main characteristics of the Platytaeniodus genus( horse u shaped jaws and pyriforms teeth)
The genus Xystichromis is not valid yet because no new species has been described under this genus name, some of them has been put in the genus Mbipia. So At my point of vue, it's not accurate to still use this genus name.
the H.sp"blue fire fin" seems very strange to me as from what I saw, there is a great variability inside this species with some specimens really close to H.sp"flameback" and others clearly far so I have doubts about its true origin.
xris :D
