Hi Jim,

Thanks for the welcome.

The sole purpose of my post was to try and help clear the confusion on the ID. Nothing more. Assuming the wild caught fish were ID'd correctly, not mixed, etc. they should be Pundamilia pundamilia "Makobe". I'll have mine next Thursday.

I will be registering them in HCCC C.A.R.E.S. so we'll have one of our specialists make another ID to be sure before they get accepted into the program.

I know what you mean with the names. Sometimes the pros cannot even agree what to use. Makes my head spin sometimes.

Peace,
~Troy

Hi and welcome, the "zebra nyererei" part should be dropped or placed after Pundamilia pundamilia makobe in brackets - this does add to the confusion.

I have been very lucky to have seen all be it briefly examples from makobe, python and senga and made my judgement from this. The senga strain has been widely distributed here in the UK. Here is a friends fish

Marco's Makobe

These are all examples from Ole Seehausen's collection, depending on the mood of the fish there is little in it :P

Hi Paul,

I will post pictures of the fish when I receive the and as they mature for comparison.

How does the photo that Old World has (top one in my post) compare to the Makobe you have seen in person?

Peace,
~Troy

Hi Troy,
At first glance it looked like the senga, this is why i mention it. They all are very nice fish and very rare in the hobby.
It may be prudent to not mix them with any P.pundamila that came over from Germany until you've had time to study them.

Another fish from Laif DeMason was the fish he labelled as "ruby green" which has been discussed and resembles more a flameback but cant remember the collection point.

Hope you stick around and keep us up to date with the fish :P
