I thought the people in this forum might want to know that the Mbipia mbipi in the United States is really Neochromis greenwoodi. This species was a part of the wild caught shipment several years ago sold by Old World Exotics (Laif DeMason).

Pictures of my Mbipia mbipi were sent to Ole Seahausen and he confirmed the mistaken ID. It's not too surprising since the differences are pretty subtle. The N. greenwoodi was previously called Haplochromis sp. "velvet black" and anyone that has kept this fish can attest that velvet black is a very accurate description.
