so i have the rodi hooked up and running. it works great, BUT my apt place sucks and they have the water pressure turned down so i am only getting 30psi. need 40 psi min to keep the ro membrane from wearing out to early.

needless to say i hate my place and am moving in oct. already had this planned and cant wait to move.

i have been using the di water in my planted tank. i did 3-4g wc 3 times in the first week. i dropped my cond from 650ms to 500ms. which was cool. but then when i tested my ph is was below 6.

so i did a 50% wc with tap water to bring it back up. brought it up to 6.8-7. now i am doing half di and half tap water. so far so good.

only weird thing is my harndness is off. my gh was lower around 148ppm and my kh was 0. which explains why my ph dropped. i have been adding in some baking soda every other day but my kh is still really low. i am just trying not to got up and down to fast. i did not think i would lower it that much in one week. so now i am going to raise it much more slowly.

and this is in my 55g planted tank with sa. angels, port acara, rams, cories, bushy nose, and some gouramis. fish seem to be doing fine and the plants are still growing. although i think i need to add some iron, some leaves are starting to brown a little.

go down and get a bunch of cuttle fish bone and cram some into the filter box ....
it will help get your numbers up a little
then get a BUNCH of limestone rock....and pile them up in the tank
that will help get your #s up to
yeah your water is gonna be soft like a pillow usein the rodi

well thats the idea. just dont want big fluctuations or crashes. also no hard water fish in this tank. so soft is ok but it still needs some buffers.

i have to find the right recipe for buffering my water.

lol different challenges to keep the mind happy. i dont want to get bored so i keep various types of tanks.

i am now contemplating getting some geos. i am interested in watching biparental mouth brooding. but i have no more room. another idea for another day.
