That sucks, sorry to hear about this. When we use to travel everywhere with my oldest boy for track, we pack all his track stuff in the carry on just because of this. We can buy clothes at the city we go to. Try to buy track shoes at a sporting goods store they don't carry them. You have to get them online. Then you also need the team uniform you can't just pick one of them up. Hard lesson to learn. I hope the bag's show up.

yea i have seen some really nice fish at don conkels farm. he has some awesome WC fish from all over the americas. he has quite a few gymno and they are amazing.

funny thing is that since they are cold water species that they tend to breed here in the winter. they grow out fast in the summer but need a cold snap to breed.

I never checks bags; I only take carry on. If I absolutely have to bring more than I can carry on, I have it shipped - much more reliable than those baggage clowns at the airports. Plus, no schlepping!

these fish hide, they see me before i see them, so no real underwater shots.

ill have some tank shots.
leaving uruguay tonight with about 8 species, 12 bags in 2 boxes, triple bagged.
2 nice pike pairs, and 2 nice Gymnogeophagus pairs.
2 Ancistrus types.
best of all i can keep these guys out doors year round.
gets over 100 and below 30 down here!
lax sunday at 3pm.
drop off some fish at my friends house in san diego, then home to pismo beach!
ill be glad to be in my own bed.

Im back.
not only had baggage problems getting there, i got delayed 5 hours in Salt lake city and Vail.
I saw my bags sitting out in the snow waiting to get loaded for at least 3 hours!
These are cold water cichlids, plecos and cory's so not a problem.
amazing fish that can take the 30's all the way to the 90's!

I had less than 10% loss, i did not bring home anything big, my friend in SD has all the fish, ill try to get some pix once they settle down if they all make it.
The other guys got the adult fish, i did not want to risk them puncturing the bags since i had a much longer trip.

Glad to be home, had alot of fun though.
If you like to catch and collect and bring back this is a great trip for you, catch species that only a handful of people have or seen.
No diving though, Thats for Africa!

I got 2 types of Ancistrus.
Standard dark with light spots, but very flat headed compared to what we get.
Not sure if there are any Ancistrus for sale in the hobby.
about 40 people have collected down there, but not sure how much has made it out in the hobby yet.
Not all spots have been collected, so only about 5 people have collected these types.

Here is a list of what i brought back.

(7 juvies)
Crencichla saxatilis (pike) (El tigre)

(1 pr)
Crencichla punctata (pike) (Salamanca)

(1 pr)
Gymogeophagus gymnogenys (el tigre)

(7 juvies)
Gymnogeophagus sp. aff. rhabdotus

(1pr 7 juvies)
Gymnogeophagus labiatus (el tigre)

(4) Corydoras paleatus (El Tigre)

(7) Rineloricaria spp.

(1pr 5 juvies)
Ancistrus spp. (El Tigre)

(5 juvies)
Ancistrus spp. (india muerta)
