hi everyone,

my name's gabriela, i'm 45 and i live in sweden.

i've recently acquired my third fishtank (my largest one yet: 67 gallons or so - get with the metric system, people! *lol*), and have started doing some research about different fish species.

i have a 42 gallon tank with "fish soup" (i bought the tank secondhand, and couldn't bring myself to make the fish that were already in it homeless, or, worse, help them to the rainbow lake): three small angelfish (one black, one marble and one pearl gold, or something - all three of them are still less than 3' tall, and so they're still doing very well in that tank) plus a small group of silvertip tetra and a small group of blackskirt tetra. plus two small ancistrus, one pictus and a small group of corys.

my second tank is more of a *jar", really, at 14.2 gallons.
1+2 swordtails plus 8 glowlight tetra call it "HOME".

my 67 gallon tank is EMPTY, and the "old men" in the aquaristics society which i belong to say "CICHLIDS!!!", and most of them add "MALAWI".
but i've fallen in love with haplochromis sp. ruby green...

nothing 100% decided yet, of course, but i REALLY like the ruby greens...

AAANYWAY...
i'm looking forward to getting to know you all, and learning from you!

Hi Gabriela,

Welcome to our little slice of the cichlid hobby, stick with the Ruby Greens, you'll love them, and it won't be the last victorian fish you'll be keeping. Enjoy your stay,

I couldn't agree more.

Ruby greens are smallish, colorful, not overly aggressive and breed very easily. Great choice.

thanks for the warm and friendly welcome!
:D

yes, i've pretty much decided to get a small group of this lovely fish.
my only problem is that they seem to be rare among aquarists over here in sweden.
if anyone of you knows of anyone over here in sweden (or europe - maybe importing would be a way to find them...) who keeps this fish, please let me know!
