Greetings fellow fish keepers!

My wife and I just discovered this forum and we're very excited to join in! We are a husband and wife team that are cichlid-crazy. We're eager to share and pickup new information on our fish keeping journey. We visited the 2010 ACA convention as our summer vacation last year, which was a wonderful experience for us.

Currently we have just over 600 gallons of aquariums running in our home, and that number is never static, it's always growing. Until recently, we've been exclusive keepers of Africans from lake Malawi and Tanganyika, so that's where our current comfort zone is/was.

That all changed just after Christmas last year (2010) when visiting our local fish pimp's outlet store, we happened upon a tank full of wonderful looking juvie's. It turns out they were Mbipia Lutea "Yala Swamp". For the next few weeks I would return every few days and take a look at those fish, the only reason I hadn't picked any up was that I didn't know anything about them at the time, and didn't have the tank space. After doing some research online, I found enough info to satisfy my need to know important details of the fish I wanted to bring home before just bringing them home, (and it didn't take long to setup yet another tank! lol)

They were colouring up quite nicely at 1.75" - 2" in size at the time, so my wife and I were able to pick out 2 males and 4 females back in early January.

These little fish have caught our attention, and now we'd like to dive in deeper and further our understanding of these beautiful fish from this interesting lake/region.

Looking forward to sharing our story and our fish experiences with everyone else, and asking for info/assistance along the way.

Thanks for reading!

J&M

Welcome to the forum.

I love the story, I think that is about how we all started with Victorians.
