I just started my collection of Lake Victorian cichlids in August. I used to be an angelfish breeder and shut it down.
I have the following species
Astatotilapia aneocolor
Astatotilapia nubilus
Haplochromis sp. Blue Fire Fin
Haplochromis sp. Ruby Greens
Lipochromis sp. Matumbi Hunter
Lithochromis xanthopteryx
Mbipia cf. lutea Yala Swamp 'Spot Bar'
Pundamilia nyererei Anchor Island 'Red'
Xystichromis phytophagus (Christmas Fulus)
a few other african cichlids
Malawi
Iodotropheus sprengerae (Rusties)
Labidochromis caeruleus Lion's Cove 'Yellow'
Crater Lake
Stomatepia pindu
I currently have 24 tanks up.
I have been able to get the following species to spawn
Astatotilapia aneocolor
Haplochromis sp. Ruby Greens
Lipochromis sp. Matumbi Hunter
Mbipia cf. lutea Yala Swamp 'Spot Bar'
Xystichromis phytophagus (Christmas Fulus)
over the last two months.
I think I have Haplochromis sp. Blue Fire Fin, fulus, aneocolors, and Yala swamp females holding.
I am still growing out the Astatotilapia nubilus, Lithochromis xanthopteryx, and Pundamilia nyererei Anchor Island 'Red' and hope to get them to spawn.
On a personal note, I live near Kansas City.

Welcome!
The H. "Blue Fire Fin" is a mystery to me. Kevin had a pic posted at one time on his page, but I think his turned out to be a "red tailed sheller". I found a picture on Sam Borsteins page and a few references, and lots of people confusing it with a sp. "red tailed sheller". Most of the keepers seem to be in the mid west...
Lucky, could you post any clear pictures?
Thank you.
Al

I will try to get someone to come over and take some decent pictures. The only digital camera I have is a piece of crap and the pictures do not do the fish justise.

KL,
Does Stomatepia pindu require hard soft water? Do you use RO water?
Sorry, I know it's not a Victorian.

I have been keeping them in tap water. I believe I read they are crater lake fish with a hard water but I could not find that.
